Aviva Equity Release Advisers - I want an Aviva Equity Release Plan but heard they no longer have any advisers to help?

Aviva have recently stopped providing their Equity Release schemes directly to the public but do still make them available to all Regulated and Approved SHIP (Formally know as the Equity Release Council) Companies to provide you with the schemes, so they are still available just not directly through Aviva.

The usual requirements like the minimum age of 55 years old and amount of £10,000 shall remain, plus the rates you will receive from Aviva will remain exactly the same as if they offered the service themselves- the only difference is the sales person will not work directlky for Aviva.

Will there be any difference using an Independent Adviser instead of an Aviva Equity Release adviser?
The fact that Aviva have closed down their direct sales team means that their equity release schemes are now generally only available via independent advisers which could actually work in your favour, as you will get the choice of other providers who may offer a more suitable rate or terms for your needs.

Will it cost me more money if using an IFA?
It should make no difference at all who you do the business with and often by using an Independent adviser you will see alternative schemes available too, which could in turn save you money - so using an adviser who is not directly authorised by Aviva should in no way mean it will cost you more money.

Is there any benefit using an IFA (Independent Finacial Adviser)?
Very often using an IFA will mean you will always get the best possible advice and with the most appropriate provider, especially if (like us) they use the Whole of Market you will always get the best advice FOR YOU and not the salesperson. When any SHIP registered IFA offers advice they must do so in the best interest of their client (i.e. YOU) and as it is a heavily regulated industry, there are often regular checks and procedures to ensure this happens, making you safe in the hands of someone working in your best interest.

'Whole of Market' and Not just Aviva'- One of the other major benefits of using an IFA is you will have access to the Whole of Market - By this we mean having access to all the equity release providers available and not just Aviva, giving you greater choices and often a better 'deal' with each provider being 100% regulated by both the FSA and the Equity Release Council (Formally known as SHIP)

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BORROW IT ALL!

Please be aware that many of those looking to Equity Release often do not want or require the full amount, so if you are one of those couples or individuals, then simple take what you need and only increase that number if and when you need it.

The only thing that is OBLIGATORY is you take a Min of £10,000 so even if you qualify for considerably more, you will not have to take it in all one go and you can draw down what you need if and when it's required.
